Iligan City is located in the Northeastern part of Mindanao. It covers an area of no less than 813.37 sq.m. comprising 44 barangays. It has a population of 283, 378. Majority of Iligan's population came from the Visayas & migrants from other places in Mindanao & even Luzon. It has a varied culture due to co-existence of Maranao's of Lanao Sur.

Iligan City was formerly a highly industrialized city because of the Ma. Cristina Falls which became a major source of power but due to the change in gorvernment policies in allowing imported goods at reduced taxes in importation, industries in Iligan were forced to shut down which caused unemployment and less taxes to the government. Presently, Iligan City is now suffering from econimic crisis because source of income were dependent from these industries.

Due to economic crisis in the city, businesses are affected. Professionals who were retrenched from industries are now employed in the city government and in teaching in career. Others went abroad.

The city proper has only two public high schools and five elementary public shools. There are five colleges with complete curriculum one university and four technical & vocational schools within the city proper.

The city's income comes from property taxes of the factories & industries, form business and from real property tax. The Schools Education Fund (SEF) receives 0% from the IRA which supports the schools in terms of buildings, teachers incentives and school facilities.

All graduates from these barangays are catered in ICNHS since there are no existing public schools in this vicinity except the annexes of this high school which are located in Barangay Palao in the East and Barangay Tambacan in the West & Barangay Santiago. Although there are private high schools in the locality, parents send their children to public high schools because of economic reasons. This influx in enrolment creates problem in the size of class, in facilities and classrooms of this school.
